# Invisible aligners: do they hurt? What to expect the first days

It's normal to wonder if **invisible aligners** hurt. The short answer: they don't hurt, but you will feel pressure, especially at the start of each stage. That sensation is a sign they're working.

## Pressure or pain?

Aligners move your teeth gradually and gently. What you feel is **pressure or tension** the first days with each new set, not sharp pain. For most people it's a mild, perfectly manageable discomfort.

## How long the discomfort lasts

It usually appears when you start a new aligner and eases in **2 to 3 days** as your teeth adapt. A useful trick: start each set at night, so the first hours of greater pressure pass while you sleep.

## How to ease the first days

- Start the new aligner before sleeping.
- Drink cold water or use cold compresses on the outside if you feel discomfort.
- Take an over-the-counter pain reliever if your doctor allows.
- Don't skip wear hours: taking them out due to discomfort only prolongs the adaptation.
