How to care for your dental veneers

Well-cared-for veneers can accompany you for many years. The key: good hygiene and avoiding the habits that put them at risk.
Daily hygiene
- Brush two to three times a day with non-abrasive toothpaste.
- Floss daily.
- Complement with mouthwash if your dentist indicates.
Habits that damage veneers
- Biting hard objects (ice, nails, pens).
- Using teeth as a tool (opening things).
- Bruxism without protection: grinding fractures them.
- Excess stainers on resin veneers (coffee, wine, tobacco).
Protect your investment
If you clench or grind your teeth at night, an occlusal guard protects both your veneers and your natural teeth. Ask us if you need one.
Veneers can't get a cavity, but the tooth beneath can: hygiene remains essential.
Check-ups and cleanings
Attend your periodic cleanings and check-ups. They allow polishing, checking the edges and detecting any detail in time so your veneers always look good.
Frequently asked questions
Can I whiten my veneers?
Veneers don't change color with whitening. If you want more brightness, it's planned from the design or they're replaced.
Can they come off?
It's rare if well placed; avoiding biting hard objects reduces the risk. If it happens, come in so we re-bond it.
Is the night guard necessary?
If you have bruxism, yes. It protects your veneers and teeth from wear and fractures.
